Welcome to the Richard Hume FAQs page. Here you’ll find answers to common questions about my limited edition fine art prints and New Zealand photography tours.
FINE ART PRINT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A Limited Edition Print means a fixed number of prints will ever be produced of that image. I personally oversee every step of production, using the finest archival materials and museum-grade printing methods. The result is a stunning artwork that is built to last.
All prints are made with premium materials and printing methods, designed to be passed down through generations. To ensure longevity, avoid hanging prints in direct sunlight and follow the included care instructions.
No. Once an edition has sold out in its entirety, no additional prints will be produced. Each edition size is absolute and guaranteed.
Photographs may vary in format depending on the camera used. I’ve used panoramic film cameras (6 x 12 cm and 6 x 17 cm) and medium format digital cameras (100 MP), which create different image ratios. Stitching digital images can also alter the final ratio slightly.
Limited Edition Prints are made to order. Standard delivery usually takes around three weeks. If you need your artwork sooner, please contact me — I’ll do my best to accommodate your timeframe.

Framing is only available for clients in New Zealand; however, full framing instructions are provided with every print so you can choose your preferred method locally.
NEW ZEALAND PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My tours are created for photographers of all levels who love the outdoors and want to grow creatively. Many guests are enthusiasts who want to deepen their skills, travel with purpose, and experience New Zealand’s wild beauty with local insight. Whether you’re returning to photography after a break or already confident behind the lens, you’ll find inspiration and support throughout the journey.
Not at all. You just need a basic understanding of how to use your camera in manual or semi-manual modes. I guide you through technical aspects as needed, but more importantly, help you develop your creative eye – reading natural light, refining composition, and connecting emotionally with the landscape.
Most tours are designed for people with a moderate level of fitness. Walks are generally short to medium in length, on formed tracks with gentle gradients. If a tour involves more physical activity, it will always be noted in the description. My goal is for everyone to be comfortable, not pushed beyond their ability.
You’ll gain practical camera skills in the field – exposure, focusing, filters, and working with changing light. But you’ll also learn to think photographically: how to interpret weather and mood, build depth in your images, and express your personal vision through landscape photography. Many participants say this is where their photography really transforms.
Group sizes are kept small – maximum of 6 guests – so there’s plenty of one-on-one time and flexibility. Smaller groups also allow us to travel more freely, spend longer at locations, and create a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.
Each tour includes accommodation, transport during the tour, tuition, and location guidance. Meals and optional extras are detailed on the Richard Hume Photography Tours website
A DSLR or mirrorless camera, tripod, and a few key lenses (wide-angle and mid-range zooms are ideal). A polariser filter, spare batteries, and memory cards are also recommended. After booking, you’ll receive a detailed checklist to help you prepare.
Yes – I offer private and small-group photography tours throughout New Zealand, tailored to your interests, timeframe, and preferred level of adventure. These are ideal for couples, friends, or photography clubs wanting a personalised experience.
