Cathedral Cove is a must-do while visiting Coromandel Peninsula and if you can make it at dawn then all the better as the first rays of the sunrise hitting the cove are truly beautiful. I have been here many times over the years and it used to be that you could park at the top of the hill and make the twenty minute walk down to the cove. That must have been far to easy because now they have removed all parking and replaced it with a shuttle bus system – or the alternative is a one and a quarter hour walk from Hahei Beach. So at 4am I started my walk over the coastal track arriving just in time to take in what was a stunning sunrise. The one benefit of the extra walk is I had this stunning place entirely to myself which is something I will always remember.

Landscape Photography of New Zealand

Photographing the New Zealand landscape has been my passion for over two decades and has taken me on an amazing journey. I still feel that I am just getting started as I continue to search and find new locations which are often off-the-beaten-track. I am as enthralled by landscape photography today as I was the day I started and love the challenge of following the light to find another amazing scene. Today my photographs are available as high-end limited edition prints and I operate photo tours which take clients on an amazing photo journey with me.

INFORMATION

A Limited Edition Print is the culmination of an exacting process perfected over many years and designed with the single aim of producing the most stunning photographic artworks available.

This process includes incredibly high-resolution image capture utilising some of the world’s best camera systems. Then I complete a post-production process where every single millimeter of the photograph as a huge-raw file is inspected to ensure what is presented in print output is what I saw while taking the photograph. Finally I am committed to only ever using the world’s finest archival, museum grade fine-art printing and framing standards to create truly outstanding art-works.

The outcome is an exceptional artwork that will complete your living space and last through generations.

I produce every Limited Edition Print personally to my own exacting standards.

 

Additionally each print is produced individually to order and strictly limited to its edition size – when a print series is sold out no additional print will ever be produced. Only when I am completely satisfied do I personally sign and number an individual print.

The print is then registered and a personally signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity issued for it.

Through servicing customers for over 20 years I have learnt a great deal about the framing process and have refined this to a standard online offering and then an additional offline bespoke service.

Standard Online Service

I offer the choice of three classic frame moldings as standard options - Black, Roma 'Natural' Timber and White. These have been chosen as they are clean, simple and timeless moldings designed to compliment the artworks.

A mat-board is placed around the artwork extending to the frame, which adds to it's overall size and appearance. Generally speaking a slightly wider mat-board is used for larger prints which adds again to the overall size and impact of the framed artwork. All materials used are of the highest standard and acid free, ensuring the longevity of the print.

Finally your framed print is finished with a specialised UV Art Glass popular with galleries and museums and renowned for it's anti glare and high clarity rating.

It goes without saying that each framed artwork is designed to be quite stunning.

Bespoke Offline Service

Additional to the options available above I offer a full bespoke framing service whereby I am able to work with you to find the perfect solution for your space.

This often includes 'mocking-up' finished framed options onto photo's that you send me to give you a realistic idea of what the final framed artwork will look like.

I can consult on the vast framing options available and have created many beautiful finished pieces for clients with very stylish Boden frames or hand made Italian Bellini frames as examples.

Additionally I work with clients on other options which I have used many times over the years such as Fujiflex (framed or Acrylic Face Mount) and canvas (stretched or box-framed). Also non-standard print sizes can be created etc

Any additional cost is communicated clearly and this process is managed personally with you.

Sizes in the selection 'Size Options' panel above are the 'Image Size' ie this is the size of the printed photograph.

All fine art prints come with an additional 5cm white border around all sides. This allows space for matting and framing and is also the space in the lower right hand side where the photograph is numbered and signed by Richard.

All canvas prints come with additional space on all four sides also, to allow for stretching. The colour of this space can be customised to best suit the image / your preference.

I have been creating photographic artworks for over 20 years and during this time have garnered a lot of knowledge on the finer details of this craft. This knowledge has led me into providing a highly personalised art consultancy service which is unique to each client.
 
Essentially with the myriad of options available from print media through to framing I am able to help guide you through the choices to find the best solution for your space.
 
Virtual Mock-Up
 
Different clients have differing needs but often the starting point is to see how an artwork will look on your walls. One simple service I am able to provide is a mock-up of what a framed artwork will look like on your walls. To achieve this you send to me a few clear photograph of the space where you intend an artwork to hang.
 
Also send to me the name of the photograph/s you are considering and I will mock-up a design of the framed art on your walls and any initial thoughts on options available.
 
Bespoke Solutions   
 
Much of my collection can be printed to mega-size allowing for some amazing solutions that really provide the 'wow' factor.
 
Also customers often want their artwork provided on an alternative material. I use the worlds finest canvas producers to create stunning canvas prints which can be stretched or finished in a box-frame.
 
Also for those wanting a super glossy look I have printed on FujiFlex for many years. This stunning media looks amazing framed or acrylic face-mounted.
 
When it comes to framing your print there are many options that can be considered. I often use Roma and Boden frame moldings or hand made Italian Bellini frames. There are literally countless options available.

Unframed Prints

After final inspection your artwork is carefully rolled into a steady tube and sent to you by tracked, signed and fully insured courier.

This is a good way for you to receive your print and have it framed locally at a time that suits you - recommended care and framing instructions are included for your framer.

I want you to have complete certainty in the artwork arriving in perfect condition so in the very unlikely event that the artwork is damaged while in transit, I will have it collected, and a new print issued and sent back to you at no additional charge.

International clients please be aware that you are responsible for any import duties that may be applied.

Framed Prints

Framed prints are available for New Zealand customers, allowing you to receive your completed artwork and hang it directly in your chosen place and enjoy.

I want to ensure that your framed artwork arrives in perfect condition so I use specialised artwork packaging and reliable and fully insured couriers.

It is highly recommended for international customers that artworks be purchased unframed, and framed locally. If you explicitly want your artwork framed and shipped internationally please contact me for shipping options.

Limited Edition means a pre-determined number of prints will only ever be created of this image. I personally produce all aspects of my Limited edition Prints and only use the worlds finest mediums and production methods. The results are stunning works of art.

I have selected print media’s which I believe represent the very finest in quality materials available today. Additionally I use only the best production methods and personally produce and sign off on every print. Because of this my prints are designed to be able to be passed down through generations. We always recommend taking normal precautions such as hanging your valued artwork away from direct sunlight.

Absolutely No. The edition size of each print is absolute and there will never be any additional prints made of any image once it has sold out in it’s entirety.

I have used different formats of panoramic film camera – a 6 x 12 cm and 6 x 17 cm – which account for the slight differences in image ratio. With photographs captured on digital camera’s stitching can create different image ratio’s also.

All of my latest photographs are taken on a medium format 100 MP digital camera which has a different format again.

As Limited Edition Prints are made to order I recommend allowing three weeks for customised artworks. If you need your artwork sooner please contact me and I will try by best to accommodate your time-frame.

Limited Edition Artworks are produced in total edition sizes ranging from 25 through to 250.

Detailed care, handling and hanging instructions are provided with your print as well as recommended framing instructions for self framing. 

As a general rule it is highly recommended for print longevity that your print not be hung in direct sunlight.

Yes I offer a full framing service which caters for all varieties of frame moldings. The options are practically endless and usually come down to what is going to compliment the space in which the print is going to be displayed. Any additional cost is communicated clearly and this process is managed personally with you once an order has been placed.

The standard frames moldings offered (Black, White and Timber) have each been selected to compliment my images and are stylish box-style frames sourced from ethical suppliers.
